let's do it on the beach

The Monterey Bay Area Regional Burners (M-PYRE, don't ask what it stands for (we haven't decided)) will be hosting a bonfire on the beach in Monterey on December 1st.

The party will go from afternoon until late (playa time)

We need DJ's and Fire Dancers - contact griffinchilders@gmail.com if you would like to perform.

Please bring some wood to burn, some food to share, your own cocktails, art, and a smile. Playa wear is highly encouraged.

As of last night, there are two porta-johns within 100 feet or so, and the fire rings are still on the beach (those were two concerns).
The plan is to take over two fire rings so that more people can enjoy the fire, so we need lots of wood. Rather than make somebody responsible for hauling around a ton of wood, I'd like everybody to bring s small bundle with them.

Directions:
From Hwy 1, take the Del Monte Ave exit
Stay on Del Monte Ave until you get to Case Verde
Turn Right on Case Verde
Go up the hill until you see the beach.
You can park on Tide to unload, but you will get a parking ticket if you stay there past dark. Instead, park on one of the residential streets further back.

After party will be at my house. My neighborhood (about 15 minutes away, so don't drink too much) has lot's of parking for small RV's and vans if you want to camp out there. Contact me for the address, or wait until the party night, and we can caravan as a group.

We can use a few volunteers for set up, greeting, and designated driving. Contact me if you'd like to help out.

    We will also be celebrating our friend Penguin's (whom you met at Decomprehension) 40th birthday at your soiree.

      monterey people yearning really eagerly?
      monterey pyromaniacs yelping, randy & excessive?
      missing people, yet raging excitement

    griffin and i were talking about doing a bingo show at the burn on the 1st - i dont know if any of you have been to a cypress lounge bingo show, but its a lot of fun, a lot of flogging and a lot of fracas

    im willing to bust my bingoatrix ass out and get some flogging bingo going - any interest out there? or let her rest until the dusty dawn of the playa?

      Bingo sounds fun. Might be good in the early afternoon as things are just getting started.

      And just to let everybody else know, I'll be bringing the bingo bar out there, but it needs to be stocked, so bring stuff to share.

      If we don't do bingo, the bar will still be there.

    i do want to announce, griffin and i will be going to the beach early - but im always up for a good solid breakfast to get things rolling in the day (and by breakfast i mean, closer to lunch but eating eggy things)

    if anyone wants to join early for some eats and then head to the beach to help set up!?

    also - we are doing a MASSIVE clean out of our garage this weekend (i think someone put burning man in a blender and sprayed it all over our garage) and have a big pile of fabrics and costumes that we are going to be passing along to whomever wants to pillage our wares..coming early might be a good way to get in on that stuff.....contact me if you are interested!

      alright, ya sorry about the acronyms. I've been using IM too much. fuck there I do it again. I actually got pm from DirtGirl so I'm going to blame her for this one. pm does mean pleasant malaise by the way not private massage which would also make sense...

      anyways, by "this weekend" you mean what is now last weekend? so I missed that then, bummer. I'm down for assembling early for brunch and then moving out to the beach for set up. also thanks for the Hi-Resolution flier, I'll spread that around. are we going to have a volunteer and supplies sign up thread? or is there already one? I don't think I've met Real Girl, but I'll go find her now.

      pm actually means post meridiem. I was just messing with you before, but really I prefer 24hour time.

    actually for the sake of reducing clutter we could do it like this, I'll volunteer for fire preformance and safety, a little firewood, food for potluck (if I have time), and set up/clean up. I can drive the drunk people but I don't have my own car. anything else we need?

      dyami - you can drive my car, i keep promising ill be able to drive, but between the two of us, one of us should be able to...i have an outback, so we can squeeze bodies in there

      let me know what time you are coming up and we can figure a time for brunch? 11?
